How It Works
How Vascular & Rosacea Laser Treatment Works
Fotona's Nd:YAG wavelength targets the hemoglobin inside a blood vessel rather than the skin around it. The vessel absorbs the energy, heats, and collapses — then your body clears it over the following weeks. Surrounding tissue is left essentially undisturbed, which is why these treatments have so little downtime.
That same precision applies whether the target is a visible spider vein, a raised cherry angioma, or the dilated vessels that drive rosacea flushing. One platform, one mechanism, three distinct concerns.

Rosacea Treatment in Camas & Vancouver, WA
Rosacea is the one concern on this page that isn't a one-and-done fix, and it's important to say so plainly. Laser treatment is genuinely effective at reducing the visible vessels and background redness that drive flushing — but rosacea is a chronic condition, not a blemish. The vessels we treat are gone; the underlying tendency remains.
What that means practically is a treatment series followed by periodic maintenance, paired with identifying your personal flare triggers. Patients who approach it that way get durable improvement. Patients told to expect a permanent cure get disappointed, which is why we don't frame it that way. We wrote about this in more depth in how Fotona laser finally works for rosacea.

Meet Your Provider
Your Vascular Treatment Provider in Camas & Vancouver, WA
Facial vessels sit close to the surface and near delicate structures — precision here is the whole treatment, and some lesions warrant medical evaluation before any cosmetic laser. Every vascular and rosacea session at Body Balance is performed personally by our medical director.
Alana founded Body Balance on a conviction that patients in Camas and Vancouver, WA deserve the same standard of clinical care in an aesthetics setting they'd expect from any medical practice — and as onsite medical director, she is here and hands-on for it.
Vascular work sits close to delicate facial structures, and part of the job is recognizing when a lesion needs medical evaluation rather than a cosmetic laser. Alana performs every vascular and rosacea session herself rather than delegating it.
Her Advanced Fotona Laser Medicine Certification means every plan is built around your skin type, your history, and your goals — not a preset machine program. Her background in surgical, oncology, and women's health nursing informs a conservative, safety-first approach.

Clinical Standards
Your Safety, Our Standard
Choosing where to treat visible vessels is a medical decision. Facial vessels sit near delicate structures, and some vascular lesions warrant medical evaluation before any cosmetic treatment. Here's how Body Balance approaches that responsibility.
Medical-Grade Fotona Platform
We treat exclusively on the Fotona dual-wavelength (Er:YAG and Nd:YAG) medical laser system — a platform used in dermatology and gynecology worldwide, maintained and calibrated to manufacturer specification. No off-brand devices, no consumer-grade equipment.
Certified Laser Provider, Every Session
Vascular and rosacea treatment is performed by Alana Berdiyev, DNP, ARNP, FNP-C — our onsite medical director, who holds an Advanced Fotona Laser Medicine Certification. Never a technician, never a rotating contractor, and never delegated on this treatment.
Skin Type Assessment First
Laser complications most often come from treating the wrong skin type at the wrong setting. We assess your Fitzpatrick skin type, sun exposure history, and medication list before a single pass — and adjust wavelength, fluence, and pulse duration accordingly.
Eye Protection & Safety Protocols
Wavelength-specific protective eyewear is worn by every person in the room, every session, without exception. Our treatment room follows medical laser safety protocols — controlled access, correct signage, and verified device settings before each pass.
Conservative Settings, Built to Escalate
We start at conservative settings and build intensity across your series as your skin demonstrates how it responds. You can always go deeper at the next session — you cannot undo an aggressive first pass.
Emergency Preparedness
Our clinic maintains emergency protocols consistent with best practices for medical aesthetic procedures. Alana's high-acuity hospital background — surgical nursing, oncology, and women's health — brings a depth of patient-management experience to our safety protocols.
Patient Selection
Not Everyone Is a Candidate — And That's the Point
Being selective about who we treat is part of how we practice safely. At every consultation, your provider assesses whether treatment is appropriate right now — not just whether it's possible. A good provider declines when the conditions aren't right. We do.

Fotona's Nd:YAG wavelength targets the hemoglobin inside spider veins and broken capillaries, causing the vessel to heat, collapse, and clear over the following weeks. Treatment is quick, non-invasive, and works on both the face and legs.
Many patients see noticeable improvement after a single session. Larger or more numerous veins may benefit from 2–3 sessions spaced several weeks apart. Your provider will estimate this at consultation after seeing the vessel pattern.
Cherry angiomas are small, benign red vascular growths that commonly appear on the chest, abdomen, arms, and back. Laser treatment targets and clears them precisely without damaging surrounding skin, usually in a single quick session.
The laser gently heats and shrinks the overactive dilated blood vessels beneath the skin that drive rosacea redness and visible flushing, improving overall tone and reducing telangiectasia. Because rosacea is a chronic condition, periodic maintenance is expected rather than a one-time cure.
Most patients describe minimal discomfort — typically a brief snapping or warming sensation as each vessel is treated. Sessions are short and require no significant downtime.
No significant downtime for any of these treatments. Some mild redness may occur immediately after treatment and typically resolves within a day.
Treated veins and angiomas do not typically return, though new ones can develop over time due to genetics, sun exposure, hormones, or aging. Rosacea is chronic and benefits from ongoing maintenance rather than having a fixed endpoint.
Vascular laser treatment is not appropriate during pregnancy or breastfeeding, over active infection, open wounds, or inflamed skin, on recently sun-exposed or sunburned skin, within 6–12 months of isotretinoin (Accutane) use, or for patients taking photosensitizing medications. Active or recurrent cold sores (HSV) in or near the treatment area may require antiviral prophylaxis before treatment, since laser can trigger an outbreak. A history of keloid scarring also requires careful evaluation. Any vascular lesion that is changing, bleeding, or of uncertain origin should be medically evaluated before cosmetic treatment. Your provider will review your full medical history at consultation and will decline treatment when the conditions aren't right.
Pricing depends on the treatment area and the number of vessels or sessions needed. We provide a transparent estimate during your consultation. HSA/FSA eligibility may vary by treatment and should be confirmed with your plan. Cherry financing with 0% APR options for qualifying purchases is available.
