About the Treatment
Laser Hair Removal in Camas & Vancouver, WA
Shaving, waxing, and the ingrown hairs that come with both are a routine most people would happily hand back. Laser hair removal ends that cycle by targeting the follicle itself, so hair returns finer and sparser until reduction becomes long-term.
Searching for laser hair removal near me in the Vancouver or Camas, WA area? At Body Balance Health & Aesthetics Medicine in Camas, we treat the face, underarms, legs, bikini line, back, and most other areas with unwanted hair, Treatment is performed exclusively by Alana Berdiyev, DNP, ARNP, our onsite medical director, who holds an Advanced Fotona Laser Medicine Certification — because matching settings to skin tone is what keeps this treatment safe. HSA/FSA eligibility may vary by treatment and should be confirmed with your plan.
"Anyone promising complete removal in one or two visits is either misinformed or selling something. I would rather give you the real session count up front." — Alana Berdiyev, DNP, ARNP, FNP-C · Medical Director & Founder, Body Balance Med
How It Works
How Laser Hair Removal Works
Laser hair removal targets the pigment in the hair follicle with precise light energy, disrupting the follicle's growth cycle so hair returns finer and sparser over time until reduction becomes long-term. Because hair grows in staggered cycles, a series of sessions is needed to catch every follicle during its active growth phase.
Treating the opposite problem? Thinning hair is a different treatment with different settings and a different assessment — see laser hair restoration.

Why Laser Hair Removal Takes a Series — Not One Session
The single most common misunderstanding about laser hair removal is that one session should do it. It can't, and the reason is biological: at any given moment only a portion of your hair is in the active growth phase where the follicle holds enough pigment for the laser to affect it. The rest is dormant and effectively invisible to the treatment.
That's why sessions are spaced 4–6 weeks apart — each one catches a different cohort of follicles as they cycle into active growth. Anyone promising complete removal in one or two visits is either misinformed or selling something. We'll give you an honest session count for your specific area and hair type at consultation.

Meet Your Provider
Your Laser Hair Removal Provider in Camas & Vancouver, WA
Laser hair removal settings depend on skin tone and hair characteristics — matched incorrectly, they cause burns and pigment change rather than results. Every session at Body Balance is performed personally by our medical director.
Alana founded Body Balance on a conviction that patients in Camas and Vancouver, WA deserve the same standard of clinical care in an aesthetics setting they'd expect from any medical practice — and as onsite medical director, she is here and hands-on for it.
Hair removal is where matching settings to skin tone matters most: the same fluence that clears hair safely on one patient burns another. Alana performs every session herself rather than delegating it.
Her Advanced Fotona Laser Medicine Certification means every plan is built around your skin type, your history, and your goals — not a preset machine program. Her background in surgical, oncology, and women's health nursing informs a conservative, safety-first approach.

Clinical Standards
Your Safety, Our Standard
Choosing where to receive laser hair removal is a medical decision. Settings must be matched to your skin tone and hair characteristics — this is where poorly-trained operators cause burns and pigment changes. Here's how Body Balance approaches that responsibility.
Medical-Grade Fotona Platform
We treat exclusively on the Fotona dual-wavelength (Er:YAG and Nd:YAG) medical laser system — a platform used in dermatology and gynecology worldwide, maintained and calibrated to manufacturer specification. No off-brand devices, no consumer-grade equipment.
Certified Laser Provider, Every Session
Laser hair removal is performed by Alana Berdiyev, DNP, ARNP, FNP-C — our onsite medical director, who holds an Advanced Fotona Laser Medicine Certification. Never a technician, never a rotating contractor, and never delegated on this treatment.
Skin Type Assessment First
Laser complications most often come from treating the wrong skin type at the wrong setting. We assess your Fitzpatrick skin type, sun exposure history, and medication list before a single pass — and adjust wavelength, fluence, and pulse duration accordingly.
Eye Protection & Safety Protocols
Wavelength-specific protective eyewear is worn by every person in the room, every session, without exception. Our treatment room follows medical laser safety protocols — controlled access, correct signage, and verified device settings before each pass.
Conservative Settings, Built to Escalate
We start at conservative settings and build intensity across your series as your skin demonstrates how it responds. You can always go deeper at the next session — you cannot undo an aggressive first pass.
Emergency Preparedness
Our clinic maintains emergency protocols consistent with best practices for medical aesthetic procedures. Alana's high-acuity hospital background — surgical nursing, oncology, and women's health — brings a depth of patient-management experience to our safety protocols.
Patient Selection
Not Everyone Is a Candidate — And That's the Point
Being selective about who we treat is part of how we practice safely. At every consultation, your provider assesses whether treatment is appropriate right now — not just whether it's possible. A good provider declines when the conditions aren't right. We do.

Questions
Frequently Asked Questions About Laser Hair Removal in Camas & Vancouver
Don't see your question? Call us at (360) 859-8393 or book a consultation.
Laser hair removal produces long-term hair reduction rather than permanent removal. Most patients see significant, lasting reduction after completing a full series, though occasional maintenance sessions may be needed over time. Any provider promising permanent removal is overstating what the technology does.
Because hair grows in staggered cycles, most areas require 6–8 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart to catch each follicle during active growth. Your provider will give you an honest session estimate for your specific area and hair type at consultation.
Fotona's platform is designed to treat a wide range of skin tones safely. Hair color and thickness affect results — light blonde, red, grey, and white hair have little pigment for the laser to target and respond poorly. Your provider will assess candidacy honestly at consultation.
Most patients describe a warming or mild snapping sensation rather than pain. Sessions are quick, and comfort varies by treatment area — bonier and more sensitive areas register more than fleshier ones.
Laser hair removal can be performed on the face, underarms, legs, bikini line, back, chest, and most other areas with unwanted hair. Your provider will confirm suitability for your specific areas at consultation.
No significant downtime. You can return to normal activities immediately, avoiding direct sun exposure on the treated area for a short period per your aftercare instructions.
Shave the treatment area 24 hours before your appointment — the laser targets pigment in the follicle below the skin, not the hair above it. Do not wax, pluck, or use depilatory creams for at least four weeks beforehand, since those remove the follicle target entirely. Avoid sun exposure and self-tanner on the area, and skip deodorant on the day if we are treating underarms.
Laser hair removal is not appropriate during pregnancy or breastfeeding, over active infection, open wounds, or inflamed skin, on recently sun-exposed or sunburned skin, within 6–12 months of isotretinoin (Accutane) use, or for patients taking photosensitizing medications. Active or recurrent cold sores (HSV) in or near the treatment area may require antiviral prophylaxis before treatment, since laser can trigger an outbreak. A history of keloid scarring also requires careful evaluation. Your provider will review your full medical history and medications at consultation and will decline treatment when the conditions aren't right.
Pricing depends on the size of the treatment area and the number of sessions in your series. We provide a transparent estimate during your consultation. HSA/FSA eligibility may vary by treatment and should be confirmed with your plan. Cherry financing with 0% APR options for qualifying purchases is available.
