About the Treatment

Laser Lip Plumping in Camas & Vancouver, WA

Lips thin with time. The vermilion border softens, the fullness flattens, and fine lines start to radiate out from the edges. Filler is the obvious answer — and for plenty of people it's the right one. But some patients want more definition without a needle, without swelling, and without the risk of looking overfilled.

Searching for laser lip plumping or a lip filler alternative near me in the Vancouver or Camas, WA area? At Body Balance Health & Aesthetics Medicine in Camas, Fotona LipLase treats lip volume and fullness, vermilion border definition, perioral (smoker's) lines, lip texture, and lip color using Er:YAG laser energy in Fotona SMOOTH mode. Treatments are performed by Alana Berdiyev, DNP, ARNP, who holds an Advanced Fotona Laser Medicine Certification and is our onsite medical director, and Olivia Pettit, RN. HSA/FSA eligibility may vary by treatment and should be confirmed with your plan.

"Some patients want fuller lips and are never going to be comfortable with a needle. LipLase gives them a real option instead of talking them into filler they don't want." — Alana Berdiyev, DNP, ARNP, FNP-C · Medical Director & Founder, Body Balance Med

How It Works

What Is Fotona LipLase — and How Does It Work?

LipLase uses Fotona's Er:YAG laser in SMOOTH mode — a non-ablative setting that heats the deeper layers of the lip without breaking the surface. That controlled warming activates fibroblasts, which respond by producing new collagen. Volume comes from your own tissue rebuilding, not from a product being placed under the skin.

It runs in two steps: a brief intraoral pass that softens perioral lines and everts the vermilion for a fuller edge, then treatment of the vermilion body and the tubercles of the upper and lower lip. Most plans run 4 sessions spaced about 4 weeks apart, at 15–30 minutes each. If you're weighing this against injectables, our dermal filler page covers that side of the decision. Because the change is progressive rather than immediate, patients tend to read as rested rather than treated.

Step 1
Intraoral Pass
A brief pass inside the mouth that softens perioral lines and everts the vermilion, creating a fuller edge from behind the lip.
Step 2
Vermilion & Tubercles
External treatment of the lip body and the tubercles of the upper and lower lip, where fullness and shape are defined.
The Mechanism
SMOOTH Mode Er:YAG
Non-ablative heating activates fibroblasts to build new collagen. Nothing is injected — the volume is tissue your own body produces.

Featured Comparison

LipLase vs. Lip Filler — Camas & Vancouver, WA

This is the question every LipLase consultation comes down to, and the honest answer is that they do different things. Filler places hyaluronic acid to add volume immediately — you walk out with a visible result the same day, and you can get more volume than laser will ever give you. LipLase builds your own collagen gradually, so the change is subtler and arrives over months.

LipLase suits patients who want definition and a natural-looking lift rather than dramatic volume, who react badly to needles, or who have had filler and want to maintain lip quality between appointments. If you want significant volume on a deadline, we will tell you that filler is the better tool — and both of our providers perform it here.

Clinical Standards

Your Safety, Our Standard

Lip treatment is perioral laser work, which raises two things that matter more here than elsewhere: cold sore risk, and how recently you have had filler. Here is how Body Balance approaches that responsibility.

Medical-Grade Fotona Platform

We treat exclusively on the Fotona dual-wavelength (Er:YAG and Nd:YAG) medical laser system — a platform used in dermatology and gynecology worldwide, maintained and calibrated to manufacturer specification. No off-brand devices, no consumer-grade equipment.

Certified Laser Provider, Every Session

Every laser session is performed by a licensed clinical provider — not a technician, not a rotating contractor. Alana holds an Advanced Fotona Laser Medicine Certification; Olivia has focused Fotona laser training.

Skin Type Assessment First

Laser complications most often come from treating the wrong skin type at the wrong setting. We assess your Fitzpatrick skin type, sun exposure history, and medication list before a single pass — and adjust wavelength, fluence, and pulse duration accordingly.

Eye Protection & Safety Protocols

Wavelength-specific protective eyewear is worn by every person in the room, every session, without exception. Our treatment room follows medical laser safety protocols — controlled access, correct signage, and verified device settings before each pass.

Conservative Settings, Built to Escalate

We start at conservative settings and build intensity across your series as your skin demonstrates how it responds. You can always go deeper at the next session — you cannot undo an aggressive first pass.

Emergency Preparedness

Our clinic maintains emergency protocols consistent with best practices for medical aesthetic procedures. Alana's high-acuity hospital background — surgical nursing, oncology, and women's health — brings a depth of patient-management experience to our safety protocols.

Patient Selection

Not Everyone Is a Candidate — And That's the Point

Being selective about who we treat is part of how we practice safely. At every consultation, your provider assesses whether treatment is appropriate right now — not just whether it's possible. A good provider declines when the conditions aren't right. We do.

Active or recurrent cold sores (HSV) on or around the lips — antiviral prophylaxis is often needed first
Lip filler placed within the past 2–4 weeks — timing between treatments matters
Pregnancy or breastfeeding
Active infection, open wound, or inflamed skin on or around the lips
Recent sun exposure or sunburn on the treatment area
Use of isotretinoin (Accutane) within the past 6–12 months
Photosensitizing medications or a photosensitivity disorder
Expectations of filler-level volume from a collagen-based treatment

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions About LipLase in Camas & Vancouver

Don't see your question? Call us at (360) 859-8393 or book a consultation.

LipLase is a non-invasive lip enhancement treatment using Fotona's Er:YAG laser in SMOOTH mode. Controlled, non-ablative heating activates fibroblasts in the lip, which respond by producing new collagen. The result is fuller, smoother, more defined lips built from your own tissue rather than injected product.

Filler places hyaluronic acid to add volume immediately, and it can achieve more volume than laser. LipLase stimulates your own collagen, so results are subtler and build over months rather than appearing the same day. LipLase also improves lip texture and fine lines around the mouth, which filler does not directly address. We perform both and will tell you honestly which fits your goal.

Most plans run 4 sessions spaced about 4 weeks apart, at 15 to 30 minutes each. Because the treatment works by building collagen, results accumulate across the series rather than appearing after the first visit.

Most patients describe LipLase as warm rather than painful. No injections are involved and no anesthesia is required. The intraoral step is brief and generally well tolerated.

No. There is no swelling and no bruising, and patients return to normal activities immediately after each session. This is one of the main reasons patients choose it over filler.

Because results come from your own collagen, they fade gradually as collagen naturally turns over rather than resolving on a fixed schedule. Most patients maintain with periodic sessions. Your provider will discuss a realistic maintenance interval at consultation.

Often yes, but timing matters. We generally allow 2 to 4 weeks between filler and laser treatment, and your provider will confirm the right interval based on what was placed and when. Many patients use LipLase to maintain lip quality and texture between filler appointments.

LipLase is not appropriate with active or recurrent cold sores on or around the lips without antiviral prophylaxis first, within 2 to 4 weeks of lip filler, during pregnancy or breastfeeding, over active infection, open wounds, or inflamed skin, on recently sun-exposed or sunburned skin, within 6 to 12 months of isotretinoin (Accutane) use, or for patients taking photosensitizing medications. It is also not the right treatment if you want filler-level volume. Your provider will review your full history at consultation and will decline treatment when the conditions aren't right.

Pricing depends on the number of sessions in your plan. We provide a transparent estimate during your consultation rather than publishing package pricing that may not fit your goals. HSA/FSA eligibility may vary by treatment and should be confirmed with your plan. Cherry financing with 0% APR options for qualifying purchases is available.

"I went to Body Balance for additional Fotona 4 laser treatments after having my initial sessions done by another provider in Portland, and I truly can’t recommend Body Balance enough. They were incredibly thorough—far more so than my initial provider—which made a huge difference in my experience and results. They recommended a few additional treatments, and after discussing them with Alana, I decided to move forward. I am absolutely thrilled with the results. Choosing Body Balance is definitely one of the best decisions I’ve made in a long time, and I highly recommend them."
